We chose to stay at Acorns Resort simply due to close proximity to family while visiting from Texas for Thanksgiving. We stayed in cabin #3, prior to arrival we were told at booking that we would be staying in cabin #1 which we were told was being newly renovated with updated furniture, paint, etc. We arrived and I didn’t realize the mixup until I walked through the door of cabin 3. Oh my god! Where do I begin?! The cabin was filthy. Dust caked on ledges, ceiling fan, bedroom fan, cobwebs in faulted ceiling and above doorway to bathroom, towels reaked of urine and bleach and one even had bleach stains! Shower curtain in bathroom was hanging because it was missing hooks! Sides of bathroom vanity were swelling due to water damage. Furnace return vent also caked with dust and even shut off in the middle of the night leaving our little girl shivering in the morning because we had no heat! We had to call the office to RESET the furnace ourselves! The unit is a mini split and was throwing sensors! That thing needs some serious maintenance. The girl in the office Katie, could have cared less when I called her about all of these issues. She even had the nerve to tell me that the owner had moved us into cabin #3 and kept the rate the same as a courtesy! Common courtesy would have been to call us and explain the cabin confusion and ask if we’d still like to keep our reservation!!! She even talked up the lake view! Sweetie we’re from Texas, it’s 40 degrees outside do you really think we care about the water?!? Katie was rude and condescending when she offered to come down to the cabin to knock down the cobweb and told me that they only “DEEP CLEAN THE CABINS IN WINTER”. To which I responded with, you should deep clean these cabins after every visitor! In a previous review posted here a month ago the reviewer mentioned some of the same complaints to which the owner said, “we can only fix these problems if we know about them”. Well seeing how this was a month ago for the previous visitor, I would think four weeks is enough time to address cleanliness issues. Now I’ll get nit picky here: the furniture in the cabin entry doesn’t match, a little outdoor table and two mismatching chairs; the “couch” is a flimsy futon with plastic legs from Walmart no doubt, the nightstand in the bedroom is mismatched from the dresser in the closet, the linens are dated, and the towels as you already know were disgusting. I mean they’re brown towels! Who puts brown towels in a resort?! Oh and there are TWO entrances to the cabin; neither one has deadbolt locks just some flimsy doorknob locks. I will never recommend this resort to anyone for anything, it shouldn’t even be called a resort! We were told that the owner would be in contact with us and they did not. I’m sure they’re not used to too many picky types here but my word they need some serious retraining in hospitality and customer service. The saddest part of all of this was the original gal who helped us and took our reservation, Diane (I think), was the sweetest and I am sure she would have handled it all much differently from Katie.

We had Friday dinner at the Cove Restaurant. Prime rib was fantastic. Service was fine. Atmosphere and Views rocked!

It was our 8th year staying here. Much has changed, but we still love our annual trip to Milford! The cabins are nice. A few recommendations - if you plan to cook, bring some supplies. They equip, but sometimes are short on numbers. We bring extra silverware, serving dishes and utensils. We also bring extra blankets, paper towels, and definitely beach towels. There a paths for hiking, kayaks and canoes and SUP boards to rent, and a park with swings. The cabins have grills (bring supplies). We bring a card table and chairs so we have seating all around the table for dinner. There is enough seating in the cabin for everyone though. There are fire pits and they sell firewood. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of outdoors to be outside and enjoy Kansas!

Went there to spend an evening with friends. The resort was very nice and I liked the look of the cabin and the facilities. The cabin we were in had a big enough living area for all of our friends (10 adults). It was a close jaunt down to the lake where I was able to fish. The staff lady in the resort shop was super nice and made us laugh. You are abe to buy day fishing passes and yearly passes there too. Great evening spent :)

They need new towels and items in the kitchen. Pans are dirty and can opener is broken. The floors needed mopped really badly. The floors were sticky and there were cobwebs in the bedrooms. My white socks were black after walking through. Simple and rustic is fine but dirty is gross.
